Position Summary:

To provide leadership and direction to the Company’s accounting department to achieve excellence in our internal and external financial reporting and to meet the needs of each of our team members in a timely manner

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or 10 to 15 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent financial forecasting skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred 
  • Advanced QuickBooks and Excel skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain total confidentially is required
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to strategize and devise solutions

Essential functions:

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting team (controller, project accountant and staff accountant) along with IT, Human Resources and Procurement
  • Train, educate, motivate, encourage and be a resource for your direct reports
  • Develop a strategic vision for Accounting, IT, HR, and procurement
  • Provide recommendations to the CEO and members of the executive team to include long-term financial and business planning
  • Identify technologies that can be used to improve the company’s accounting processes
  • Communicate with, build and maintain strong relationships with our financial partners including our CPA, lawyer, bankers, insurance providers others as needed

External Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate monthly and annual external financial reporting to management, banking partners, IRS and municipalities that have a vested interest in the Company
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and US GAAP
  • Ensure all internal accounting processes are correct, secure and followed by all team members; use the COSO model for controls over financial reporting
  • Promote and guide cost accounting initiatives
  • Work closely with our external accountants to ensure an efficient and effective audit is achieved and appropriate legal tax strategies are implemented to pay the lowest tax
  • Prepare year-end financial statements with a full set of disclosures


Internal Financial Reporting:

  • Tracking cash flow and analyzing the company’s financial weaknesses and strength, whilst proposing corrective actions
  • Provide analysis and guidance in future capital equipment purchases and expansion opportunities with regards to financing and ROI calculations
  • Identify important key performance indicators, implement tracking and provide feedback to management with regards to our performance on KPIs.
  • Identify industry trends and benchmarks and juxtapose the Company’s performance against competitors (AWI Cost of Doing Business Survey)
  • Implement the cash projection worksheet to help us better project cash inflows and outflows, in addition to projecting balance sheets and income statements
  • Overseeing the process of financial prediction and preparation of budgets for each department
  • Stay abreast of current regulations and accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance with DOL and IRS rules and regulations
  • Work closely with our retirement plan service providers to file the Form 5500 timely
